Tutors can be students at RCC or nonstudents who have academic experience in the subject they are tutoring. All tutors have successfully completed the courses for which they provide tutoring. Tutors must show academic proficiency in the course and have good interpersonal communication skills. In addition, tutors are expected to maintain confidentiality, work well with peers and faculty and be prompt for tutoring sessions. Tutors complete employment forms and tutoring reports and are paid through the Student Success Center. The number of tutors available per semester varies.
Typically, our tutors have taken a class at RCC and received a grade of an “A” or a “B” to qualify to tutor for that class. We also have tutors who have completed classes at other colleges or universities. To apply to be a tutor please use the application on the HR website for part time employees, which can be found here.
When you have completed the application, Dean Beck will contact you with further details if a tutoring position is open.
