Dr. Lisa Johnson named Vice President of Learning and Workforce Development/Chief Academic Officer at RCC

Randolph Community College (RCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Lisa Johnson as the institution’s next Vice President of Learning and Workforce Development/Chief Academic Officer, effective May 1.
“I am thrilled to join Randolph Community College and contribute to its legacy of student-centered education and workforce development,” Johnson said. “I look forward to working alongside the RCC team to expand opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and support the success of every student we serve.”
With more than 16 years of experience in academic administration, workforce development, and student support in the North Carolina Community College System, Johnson brings a powerful blend of innovation, leadership, and dedication to student success.
“Dr. Johnson is a transformational leader who understands the evolving needs of our students, faculty, and communities,” RCC President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “Her personal story — from first-generation college graduate to First Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force to community college leader — is one that mirrors our mission. She brings a bold vision, grounded in innovation and results, that will help us shape the future of learning and workforce development in Randolph County and beyond.”
Johnson most recently served as Vice President of Student Learning and Chief Academic Officer at Alamance Community College, where she championed curriculum innovation, established strategic partnerships, and implemented initiatives that significantly improved student retention and completion. She previously held leadership roles at Central Carolina Community College, including Dean of Health Sciences and Human Services, where she oversaw major capital projects, developed workforce-aligned academic programs, and built lasting relationships with local industries.
A retired First Sergeant in the United States Air Force and proud first-generation community college graduate, Johnson earned her Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Concordia University (Oregon), a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from St. Petersburg College (Florida).
Her extensive expertise includes accreditation, faculty development, and cross-institutional collaboration. At RCC, she will lead efforts to expand educational pathways, grow workforce development opportunities, and support student achievement across the College.
