Randolph Community College kicked off the holiday season with its beloved Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 3, bringing joy and community spirit to the campus. More than 800 employees and guests enjoyed a magical evening filled with activities for all ages, celebrating the warmth of the season and the vibrant community at RCC.

“The Tree Lighting Ceremony is a beautiful tradition that unites our community,” RCC President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “It is a time to reflect on the joy of the season and celebrate the spirit of togetherness. At RCC, we strive to provide moments like this where connections are made, and memories are created.”

Tree Lighting

Visitors gather on The Plaza for the lighting of the tree.

The centerpiece of the evening, the tree lighting, dazzled attendees with twinkling lights and holiday cheer, but that was not the only entertainment for attendees. The Photographic Technology Department captured cherished memories with jolly old Saint Nick, children delighted in holiday tales at Storytime with Mrs. Claus in the library; RhinoLeap took the stage in the auditorium, enchanting the audience with a special festive performance; guests warmed up with cocoa, cider, and seasonal goodies in the Armadillo Café, the Cosmetology Department offered free tinsel hair styling for a touch of sparkle, and cornhole games and coloring books from Santa kept the holiday excitement going for children and families alike.

As the community embraced the holiday spirit, RCC also reminded attendees of the educational opportunities available. Registration is now open for the Winter Term, which begins Dec. 17, and the Spring and Summer 2025 semesters.
