Open house to promote upcoming RCC courses
Randolph Community College’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development and College and Career Readiness departments and the College’s Small Business Center are partnering with Kingdom Life Community Church to offer GED, Adult High School, and computer courses on the church campus. To kick things off, the church is hosting an open house on Saturday, March 19, from noon-2 p.m. to promote the upcoming courses.
“This is a collaborative effort to help bring courses and opportunities to the community,” RCC Dean of Workforce Development & Continuing Education Randy Gunter said.
The idea came from a conversation the church’s bishop, Michael Trogdon, had with his daughter, Mikayla.
“The city of Asheboro is so blessed to have such a fine educational institution as Randolph Community College that does so much to empower individuals toward success,” Michael Trogdon said. “It has been my desire for those on the Eastside of Asheboro to have access to have such wonderful educational opportunities, but the lack of transportation has made that very difficult.”
The two sat down with the Director of the Small Business Center, Quinton Louris, and the trio began to envision more opportunities to bring to the church’s community.
“I am so excited about the potential impact that this will have for those on the East side of our great city and look forward to many years of educational and economic empowerment,” Trogdon said.
Kingdom Life Community Church is located at 532 Cross St. in Asheboro. The event is open to the public.
