RCC President Shackleford presented with inaugural Lance-Stone Award
Randolph Community College President Dr. Robert S. Shackleford Jr. was presented with the first-ever Bert Lance-Stone Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce’s 38th Annual Membership Meeting at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville.
ASHEBORO — Randolph Community College President Dr. Robert S. Shackleford Jr. was given the inaugural Bert Lance-Stone Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Archdale-Trinity Chamber of Commerce’s 38th Annual Membership Meeting at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville.
Named for the current Mayor of Archdale, the award for service is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of exceptional public service and volunteerism in the community in multiple capacities with different organizations. It is only awarded when a nominee’s consistent volunteerism and service have a profound impact and whose leadership and/or philanthropic endeavors have improved the quality of life of Archdale-Trinity citizens.
Jane Liebscher, President of United Way of Greater High Point, presented the award. After giving a biography of Shackleford, Liebscher discussed Shackleford’s community and professional service involvement, along with the community awards he has earned.
“I’m sure you’ll agree with me that this is an impressive list of achievements and accomplishments,” Liebscher said. “But what really tells the story of Dr. Shackleford’s impact is the comment from the person who nominated him: ‘Dr. Shackleford is the dynamic dedicated president of our local community college and embodies local public service to the Archdale-Trinity community. He has taught many of us locally to the public servants and his impact on the overall quality of life in Archdale-Trinity is deep and profound.’ ”
