Classes are scheduled in the mornings and evenings to offer flexibility and accommodate different schedules.

ABE, GED®/HSE, ESoL Program Information

Students are required to attend an orientation and complete a TABE or CASAS assessment to determine academic skills and abilities to ensure proper placement in our programs. Orientations are offered during the day and evening. Regular attendance is vital for student success.

Minors (16 and 17 years old) can enroll in our programs. Call 336-633-0106 for more information for ABE, GED® or AHS pathways.

Once a student enters class, regular attendance is required. Signing a registration sheet or taking the placement test does not constitute full-time enrollment in Career and College Readiness.

Full-time enrollment is regular attendance for 20 hours a week. Enrollment requirements for external offices and agencies supersede Randolph Community College’s requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to be informed of these requirements.

Completion of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED) is by testing in four areas of academic studies:

  • Reading/Language Arts and Writing
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies

Students must pass all tests and attain an adequate composite score for the whole battery.

Completion of the Adult High School Diploma is by earning a total of 22 course credits, including the core credits determined by the NC High School Graduation requirements.  Each course consists of a series of tests and a final exam.  In-person proctoring for tests and exams is required.

North Carolina Graduation requirements are as follows:

  • English I, II, III, IV
  • NC Math 1, 2, 3, and a fourth math to be aligned with the student’s post high school plans
  • Three Science credits including Biology, a physical science course, and an earth/environmental science course
