RCC Pandemic Safety Protocol
The Pandemic Safety Protocol for Randolph Community College is based on guidance from the NC Governor, local and state public health officials, and the North Carolina Community College System Office and will be used to maintain campus safety during a pandemic while continuing to offer students educational opportunities.
The protocol is based on three potential scenarios (see chart below), depending on what restrictions are necessary when the College operates, or at any time during the school year, to control the spread of the disease. Strategies may be adjusted as new developments warrant.
- Maintain 6 feet apart to avoid close contact.
- Avoid physical contact between people, i.e. handshakes and hugs.
- Minimize face-to-face time and interactions.
- Meetings should be held virtually.
- Intentional actions to decrease density within the workplace with the goal of maintaining at least six feet of space between persons present.
- Safety barriers in public-facing areas such as reception desks and welcome centers.
- Building capacities controlled with reduced student capacity and staggered seated class meetings.
- Disinfecting of the buildings.
- High touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches, elevator buttons, restrooms, water fountains, and push bars will be disinfected.
- Affected facilities will be closed, and disinfected.
Keeping the College community safe must be a collective effort.
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean, sanitize, and disinfect frequently touched objects throughout the day and shared objects between each use.
- Wear a face covering when social distancing cannot be maintained.
